Craft Hope: Bibs

I seem to have a little problem right now with starting new projects before I finish current ones, but I guess we all go through stages like that. I'm justifying that it's ok because it's for a good cause!

Craft Hope recently announced Project 20, which is making bibs for children in China. When I have the time, I love to participate in their projects and this is a quick and easy one. I started an assembly line of bibs last night using some flannel scraps that I had in my stash and a solid for the back that I was able to find in the remnant section at Joann over the weekend.

Making bibs for Craft Hope

Last year when I took Stitched in Color's Curves class, I never made the bib project so I pulled out that pattern and got to work. I can't share her pattern because it's part of the class, but there are lots available for free online. What I love about her pattern is that it's symmetrical so I don't have to remember to flip the template over. I'm HORRIBLE about remembering things like that! I have six traced out and in varying stages of completion. I have some other fabric that I want to use too that should be enough for at least two more. The project doesn't close until April 1st so there's still plenty of time to join in!

Crochet baby blanket in progress

I should also admit that I started *another* new project, but (again with the justifications) it's not entirely new. I was knitting a baby blanket with this yarn and had actually gotten pretty far along but wasn't loving it at all. While I like the ribbed pattern, it didn't look very good with this variegated yarn. I came across it when I was cleaning out my knitting basket and I decided to crochet it instead. I kept telling myself that I would wait to start it until I finished one of my knitting projects, but I couldn't resist the temptation to see how it would look. Thankfully, I like it much better, not to mention crocheting is much faster!

Since I feel like I need a little accountability right now with my ever expanding list of onging projects, here's a rundown of my other WIPs:

  • Plus quilt - still working on sewing the rows together. 12 rows left to go.
  • Solid stripes - I got batting over the weekend and need to make my quilt sandwich.
  • Paper piecing project - still deciding what I want to do with this project. I don't like my initial idea and need to revamp it.
  • Modern medallion project - still deciding what I want to do with this project from last summer's Handstitching class. Not sure if I want to make it into a full quilt or maybe just make a big pillow or wall hanging instead.
  • Knit shawl - knitting along. One or two more skeins left to go. I'm hoping one, but I'm waiting to see how long it is at that point.
  • Lace scarf - knitting along. Almost done with the first skein. One more to go.
I *think* that's all, but it's entirely possible I'm forgetting something. Hopefully soon I'll be moving some of those projects to the finished list!

I love the elephant fabric on that bib! Also I agree that crocheting is faster - but it cramps up my hand so much worse than knitting so I can only crochet for short periods of time. DO you get bad hand cramps?
