After sorting through and organizing my scraps over the weekend, I was able to finish laying out my plus quilt. Although I did make one modification. I was originally going to make it 36"x48" but I cut it down to 36"x36". After nearly 3 hours of sorting, cutting and placing it seemed like a great idea!
I'm not sure where those 3 hours went. Chris played poker on Sat night and I went into my craft room shortly after he left thinking I would iron the binding fabric for my baby solids before I hopped in the shower. Three hours later I had most of my pluses laid out, my scrap baskets were empty and no binding fabric had been ironed. Oh well, at least I was productive!
Here they are in all of their glory. I've made a few moditifcations since I took this picture though. For some reason, when I see a picture of quilts I'm making, I start to see things I want to adjust. I don't really understand it because I look at it from different distances, I leave it and come back, but when I see it on the computer screen, I suddenly notice things that I don't in person. Maybe it has something to do with how the colors are repesented on the monitor?
In other news, my baby solids quilt is quilted and ready for binding. I did finally get around to ironing the fabric yesterday after I finished laying out my pluses but I still need to cut it and iron it in half. I hope to have it finished within the next week.
I can't decide if I want to sew the binding on first or start piecing all these squares together, but I should probably be a good girl and finish the solids project first. I'm sure it will take a lot less time than the piecing!

I love this quilt and in particular your embracing the scraps. I am inspired.
Those scrappy plusses are so great! Nice work!
I love your plus quilt! It looks perfect!
I am the same with spotting things in photos of quilt layouts, I can look at it all day long, then pop a photo in a blog post and I look at it completely differently!
Beautiful plus blocks ; )
Productive and successful - it's going to be great.
Three hours without noticing it! That's awesome. Lately, I've been giving myself 60-90 minutes of "scheduled" time in the sewing room, and I've been getting bored after about 30-45 minutes and wandering off to do something else. It's great that you got so inspired.
